Cultural background


Aswan is characterized by a long history; therefore culture reflects the social life of its local community. Although Aswan based by different occupations creating culture diversity behind, culture still keeps and reflects the original environment and the character of its indigenous population.
Cultural development is revealed in literature, poem, and newspaper. After 1952 Revolution, a set of cultural centers, libraries, and theatres have been constructed, which assist in developing and extending Aswanian culture around the world. The most important sign of Cultural Revolution is Aswan players of folk arts, which turned

out to be well-known and admired in different places around the world.
Aswan location: Aswan is situated on the eastern bank of the Nile, 899km south of Cairo, linking Egypt with Sudan.
Space: 100,000 kilo meter squares Population: 1.1 million Climate: As a beautiful winter resort, Aswan enjoys a dry temperature.


Administrative divisions
Aswan has five Municipals administrative centers:

  1. Aswan (The capital)
  2. Kom Ombo
  3. Daraw
  4. Nasr El Nuba
  5. Ed

In addition to five cities:

    1. Abu Simbel
    2. Kalabsha
    3. El Rhydesia
    4. El Boselia
    5. El Sebaaia
